TEMPORADA I
Ep.3 | SILVIO
Overcoming obstacles and never stop treading new paths. That's what moves Sílvio.
Whilst he was still a child he fell in love with the trumpet and set off in pursuit of that dream. He convinced his dad, who didn’t consider music a job, faced prejudice and had to deal with the emergence of his disability. Today he sees at OPESP the appreciation of his skill and hopes to achieve many things in his life.
Ep.5 | MIRIÃ
“Now I feel as though I could fly…”
Passionate about the synchronicity of orchestras and with an imagination that will take her anywhere, Miriã wanted to jump on the bandwagon of music magic. When she started studying the cello, she realised she would need to step out of her comfort zone and face herself. She sees OPESP as the start of her musical journey and the orchestra as a medium for change in the life expectancy of people with disability.
Ep.2 | NATY
Sonhadora. Essa é a palavra que define Naty.
Being a musician was always in her plans and she went after that. In her second attempt, she managed to get into the School of Music of the State of Sao Paulo. She hopes that, one day, all those who dream of being musicians can also have that opportunity.
Ep.4 | SUZANE
“If there are Paralympics why can’t we have a Parasymphony?
This phrase from Suzane impacted us. Aged 10 she heard a clarinet for the first time and decided that she wanted to learn it. She had the incentive of her mother and, at 15, started to study the instrument.
After receiving an autism diagnosis, she adopted music as her ally and first source of therapy. She found in the musical notes another way of communicating with the world.
Ep.6 | FLAVIA
“It is the realisation of a dream that I thought was dead.”
The desire to play the violin has always been with Flávia, even before she could speak. Her mum’s refusal, the ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder diagnoses, as well as her physical disabilities led her to believe that her dream of being a musician was never going to become true. However, at 19, after she started having her most desired violin lessons, and when she faced the several obstacles imposed daily to a person with disability, she realised that everything was possible.
